I know the President, Vice President, Sec/Treas. and pretty much the entire Board of Directors. They had a board of their own and wouldn't even use it. Much like a board I setup for another organization. :banghead:

I am an ABA member, have been for a long time and will be for a long time to come....hopefully. They've done a lot of good things for bowhunters in this state.

Being a member of ABA is what got me here to this site:up:

Yeah they played a large roll in obtaining some bowhunting only land on the WRNWR, well almost, they do allow ML hunting for 3 Days but after that it's all bowhunting:thumb:

The ABA is a good organization, I have been a member in the past and since I don't see them at the Big Buck Classic anymore, I haven't had opportunity to sign up, but thats not there fault though, its mine, cause I should send them my membership in the mail just for finacial support if nothing else. I think I will do that.
One thing I mentioned when I was a active member, was I would like to see some region events in my area. I never have seen much in the NE part, but I know they do other things around the state. And I may just be missing things up here also.
As far as not posting here, the only thing I can think of, is one has to remember this is a long standing organization. And I believe they communicate through meetings and one on one more than anything. I do know they had a message board and it didn't get much talk either.
I always say though instead of sitting back and observing, join them and make a difference yourself. They're all volunteers, and as we know volunteers get burned out from time to time. Not saying thats the case here, but I know all hunting organizations need help in anyway.
I believe they do some hunts with children which is great, and hold several 3D shoots as well as represent bowhunters with the state and AGFC.
Im a firm believer in the ABA and appreciate the work theyve work done in the state.
My membership has expired and thats something I need to take care of and join again.
Meetings and one on one talks can only get you so far.
This forum doesnt cost them a nickel and would be a great tool for them to get the word out a little more but for some reason they dont use it even though some of their officers are members here.

I let mine expire as well...did they send me a reminder? Not even that...I suggested they needed to pay more attention to the membership and getting the word out...but I guess that fell on deaf ears too. I jioned ABA with the same intention I joined this group with, and that was to do everything I know how to advance the awareness and attract people to, the sport of hunting/fishing in Arkansas. I didn't discover a lot of eagerness to communicat on a per member basis...rather there were charter members that communicated to each other mainly and didn't aggressively approach the membership angle. I have no hard feelings about that, it isn't a phenomenon that's indigenous to ABA, I found it in other groups too.

That's their web-site it has their contact information. I can call or email them and usually get a pretty quick response. Sometimes it may take a 2 or 3 days but they're busy too. If your interested in renewing your membership I believe that can be done there as well.
As far as events go, they don't do many. They have 3 shoots a year the Spring shoot in March which includes a banquet, the Roger Maynard Scholarship shoot Memorial Day weekend and the Fall Championship in September. The Fall shoot is also where they elect their officers, all these events with the exception of the banquet, take place at the archery range on Camp Robinson being it's about as centrally located as you can get. The banquet is held or as been being held at the Oak Bowery (?) Church.

They do set up a small range for kids to get interested in archery at the festival held at the headquarters of the refuge every fall I think.

chaley, I want you to get them to update the website more than once every 18 months. They haven't posted any results of their own shoots in almost two years I think.

I have expired also, and never got a renewal notice from them. I could renew online, but just had not thought much about it. They have a decent newsletter, and I am sure they do some good things. It is just hard to be very involved in the NE corner of the state. Sure wish their shoots were closer, the sound like a lot of fun.
How about we all get together and ask them to do a few things a little different. I would like to see more tournaments in different parts of the state, kinda like the ASA does. Have a few qualifiers scattered through the state. That would increase membership and generate more money for them to do more things with. I believe in the ABA and support them 100%.
