Me and a buddy of mine are thinking about canoeing/fishing the buffalo here in a few days. We are planning on starting wednesday, camping out on the river that night, and finishing up thursday. Anyone have any suggestions on where we should put in and where we should take out. I would prefer a place where there are ample fish, and great scenary also. Any help would be appreciated. By the way we have our own canoes, and will be launching and picking up ourselves. thanks
Me and a budy just got back from an overnight float on the Buffalo this past weekend. We put in at Pruitt, and took out at Hasty. It is about a 7 mile float, 3 miles on Sat., and 4 on Sun, perfect for fishing. The water was low, but great for float fishing, and we caught a bunch of Smallies, and Rock Bass. Most of the fish were still holed up in the deeper pools, as the water has not warmed enough to get them hitting aggressively yet. If you want to get into some good fishing this week, I'd do an overnight float from Carver to Mt. Hersey, about 7 miles, and very little fishing pressure.

Dont do the Ponca to Pruitt float....fishing ok but to much water to cover in 2 days. We tried it once with low water and had to drag some.
