Rattle m up's name has nothing to do with deerhunting. It has to do with fishing, using rattle trap lures to rattle m up some drums. graemlins/thumb.gif

Maybe it should be changed to Drummin Up :D

bass fishin is how we figured out how to catch em, we went bass fishin in feb. a few years ago and we caught a bunch of drum, since then, we always fish for them this time of year, really easy to catch.

deerhunter
03-02-2004, 11:38 PM
Do you catch any bass in the process?

Rattle-m-up™
03-02-2004, 11:41 PM
the first time we went, no, the freakin water was about 42 degrees, we caught one sand bass saturday. but we "target" the drum, their a blast to catch, especially on ultralight tackle. Black and blue gitzit texas rigged is our secret late winter drum bait. need to have a little bit of current on the river too i think.

I usually catch drum by accident. I catch enough of these nasty fish this way with out trying to catch them. tongue.gif

deerhunter

You can snag'em during the summer over here at the lock and dam by the cooler full in the two to five pound range.

CDay
03-03-2004, 06:24 PM
Yeah but real men shoot them with their bows at that time of year. graemlins/thumb.gif

Bowfishing :D

deerhunter
03-03-2004, 06:25 PM

bowfishing is a blast, too bad your a wuss deerhunter, maybe one day your little girly arms will be strong enough to pull one back!!! tongue.gif just kiddin

deerhunter
03-03-2004, 11:12 PM
I can shoot a compound on most days, but My arthritis bothers me real bad sometime and I cant even try to pull a compound bow back.Thats one reason I shoot a crossbow all the time but not the only reason.

I was looking at some compounds today at Bass Pro.

Rattle-m-up™
03-03-2004, 11:19 PM
you've told me before thats why you shoot a crossbow, i know a lot of guys with shoulder probs that have to use em if they want to bow hunt. a compound over time is pretty hard on your shoulders, especially if your pullin a lot of weight.

MountainBuck
03-03-2004, 11:23 PM
Yeah, my Grandpa got that Way, But he was 84 when it happened :D

deerhunter
03-03-2004, 11:24 PM
I would never use that as an excuse cuz I would most likely still use my trusty ole Horton any way.

I would love to go shoot'n some fish though,I think that would be some kind'a fun.

Rattle-m-up™
03-03-2004, 11:27 PM
i have always used an old compound to bow fish, if i could find an old compound with really low poundage that would be awesome, its a blast, we dont have a great set up but we always get to shoot a bunch.

deerhunter
03-03-2004, 11:33 PM
Seems like a recurve might be better.

Rattle-m-up™
03-03-2004, 11:36 PM
or a recurve, i ment to put that too! graemlins/smack.gif

MountainBuck
03-03-2004, 11:56 PM
Deerhunter, I a'int got no excuses and don't feel I have to make any to anybody. I don't have anything wrong with me other that don't have time to put in practice it takes with compound and I've been using crossbow since I was your age. I know you don't, but don't worry bout it!! graemlins/thumb.gif
