I am going to start fishing a lot this year. My oldest daughter is now 6 years old and she wants to go fishing more than I do. Any tips on catching fish would be greatly appreciated. I want her to enjoy fishing so maybe this will be a good way to get her in the outdoors.

A good rule of thumb on crappie spawning is when the dogwoods start blooming. Here in Arkansas, usually between March 20 and 1st week of April. Depending on weather and location in Ark. and also type of water. Shallow muddy water will warm quicker and have earlier spawn than clear deep water.
Good Luck

My Grandpa (my hero) always said when the dogwood buds were the size of a squirels ear, ya better be on the water. Seemed to work for him. If your just getting started its tough to beat a minnow a bobber. Plus the mnnow bucket will keep a 6 year old occupied for a couple of hours.

I have found the full moon in March at some locations and the full moon in April at other locations. The full moon in May is the time to catch bream.

Is the fishing any good right now? If so, what type of bait do I need?
