What does it mean to be a good sportsman?
Anyone see the news today showing that display of good sportsmanship in Detroit?
Anyone listen to the media concerning the risk of taking your family to watch a game? The lanquage has been a concern for a long while, now we have to be concerned that violence can break out???? Is anyone out there who believes our sports are becoming R rated? And....it isn't just the overpaid players, it's the radical fans who have nothing better to do than spout vulgar lanquage, drink booze, and act like idiots.
The behavior is enough to turn off any decent moral person. When these fans quit attending sports events can you imagine what's left?
Our morals in this country are being questioned by many foreign countrys. Wonder why? Anyone see the famous commercial with the towel girl?
It's a shame that sports is becoming a dirty word in America.

Sports is athletics in my opinion.Nascar, wrestling(fake),golf(and I play) are not sports.Sorry, but thats how I feel, the only athletic ability on a race track is the pit crew.

If sports teams would quit recruting wanna be rappers and street thugs, the sports might improve. Tell them to take off them earrings, jewlery, and do-rags and act like men!

Man I agree with that fairweather!!! smile.gif
In my opinion how most professional people at that, or any level, dress and what they dress in tells a lot about their attitude and their character, on and off the field of play!

Unfortunantly these types of values are not stressed at the youngest ages today. I got a serious belting after being a "bad sport" after a 3rd grade football game on the base. Today I thank my father for that whooping. Saw my neighbors young kids baseball team play a few years back and it was amazing the poor sportsmanship showed by these young people. Yelling and screaming, taunting, throwing fits in the field, throwing mitts and hats. If I or any of my team members would have done that we would have been whooped. Sportsmanship is not considerd part of the sport any more and is a darn shame. Those values trickle down into everyday life as these young-uns grow up. Course I think a lot of the parents at these games need a baseball bat lesson behind the bleachers also.

Dirtdart, I was not saying that golfers would be great at everything or that they could compete in a Decathalon or Pentathalon...I am just stating that golf is a sport, and it does require stanima,,,how many of those old fat guys who have to swing around their belly's do you think could walk 18 holes, much less 72 holes Thursday thru Sunday....Not Many......
