TEXAS vs ARKANSAS

I was listening to Chuck Barrett's radio show "Sports Wrap" a few days ago. The subject came up that a move is underway to honor the ball players from both teams that played in the "Shoot Out". I just can't see honoring players from an opposing team at Razorback Stadium. I know some of the Arkansas players that played in that game are some that are involved with the plans. I remember watching that game on tv in 1969 and still get a sick feeling just thinking about it. I have never watched a replay of the game, why make myself sick again. I would just as well forget that game and go on. How that game got the name "The Shoot Out" I don't know as well. I would think a game with a name as the shoot out would have been a game such as the game against Houston when they were great at the Run and Shoot. Now that was a shoot out where the last team with the ball was going to win. I guess what made the shoot out so big was Richard Nixon was at the game. I hope after this year there is no more Texas. I sure do miss the SWC. Nothing like having the hogs be the only non-texas team in the conference. Sure wish I still had that t-shirt of the hog standing in Ark. pissing on texas.

I miss the SWC, too. AR-AL (or any other SEC team) rivalry just isn't as promising as an AR-TX game.

I wished the Hogs would have went to the Big 12....that conference has some of the SWC flavors in there. Style of play was and still is
almost identical to the SWC.

Cant think of a better game than Hogs vs Longhorns.

I know that Houston took some flack over the down "hook horns". When you have Razorback blood flowing through your veins there are some things you just can't control. That is why all Razorback head football coaches should be former HOGS.
