I like the Braves but dont think they'll make it very far this time. I'd still like to see the Cubs and Red Sox make it to the series...Probably got as close as they will ever get last year. Dang ole Bartman....man... he sucks...and Brett F'ing Boone put the screwolie to that deal. I really dont blame it on Bartman though.

I like pulling for the losers. So, Go RED SOX. However, I've got to pull for the Cardinals over the Cubs. But, if the Cardinals blow it like last year, and the Cubs have a chance, I'm in their corner.

No. Naked eye, but you gotta sit ther awhile to let your eyes adjust. Wait a minute - I've sat on stand late into the night, or very early in the morn - but no bow to shoot. It was all to view game back before there were trail cams, and other recording devices.

I know wrestling is not much of a sport but I love it will be watching RAW tonight. I do not care much for any of the other sports out there never liked baseball when I was a kid. People tried to get me to play just did not like it. I also watch a little rodeo also, and a little Nascar but not as much as some people. I think not having to face the opposing pitcher at the plate is a benefit also, sort of a sissy way out.You dont have to run the bases, you never have too go out onto the batters box, never have to avoid being hit by a 90 mile an hour fast ball. You get the full benefit of the break when your teams at bat.
I just think it evens out in the mix, plus Clemens has pitched in both leagues.
Have you ever seen Koufax pitch? He truly was in a league by himself.
Rattle-m-up™
05-24-2004, 09:10 AM
im just saying this....clemens has to face an extra REAL hitter every time the other teams batting order comes around, he has to face 9 real hitters on a team, Koufax pitched to 8 players and 1 pitcher every time around.....that comes out to about 4 at bats per game that arent easy outs like it is in the national league.
deerhunter
05-24-2004, 05:34 PM
Koufax earned a place among baseball's greatest pitchers with a dominating performance between 1962 and 1966. He won 111 games and lost 34 decisions, led the league in ERA each season (averaging under two earned runs per game during this period), paced the NL in strikeouts (1963, 1965, and 1966) and shutouts (three times), and pitched four no-hitters, including a perfect game in 1965. At the height of his career traumatic arthritis in his elbow threatened permanent disability and hastened his retirement after the 1966 season.
Going Out in Style
Koufax posted records of 26-8 and 27-9 in his final two seasons. Thus he was 18 games over .500 each season. From 1950 through 2003, no pitcher had ever put together back-to-back seasons of as much as 16 games over .500, let alone their last two seasons in the game.
He posted a 0.95 ERA in four career World Series helping the Dodgers to 3 Chapionships.
Koufax,Koufax,Koufax!!!!!!!!!

Rattle-m-up™
05-24-2004, 05:36 PM

deerhunter

I'm not crazy about it, I'd rather see them play those games within their own division. You get a better feel for who is really the best team within their division.

I have to say I like the interleague play. There may be some unfair match-ups, and it does detract somewhat from the division races, but I think it is good for fan interest. I think the interleague play can also create some great match-ups that we would never see unless the teams made it to the World Series.
Baseball has been in a long decline so it may have to start thinking "outside the box", similar to the All Star game determining home field advantage (I don't agree with this though). MLB is going to have to try some new ideas. Nothing wrong with this as long as it betters the game and its future.
Rattle-m-up™
06-11-2004, 04:45 PM
the problem with baseball is that with all the home runs and high scoring games all of the strategy has been takin out of the game....i mean, no one steals bases anymore, and when was the last time you seen a suicide squeeze...two of the most exciting plays in baseball....a rarity anymore... :(

I kinda liked that one proposal last year that would have an interleague game played every day of the season, not all bunched up in June and July. Have the games scattered out thru the season, kinda like the NFL does it. In the NFL a NFC team plays 1/4 of its season (4 GAMES) against AFC opponents, and vice-versa for AFC.
