I play golf. I also build and repair clubs. I haven't picked up a club in a couple of years. We use to play all the time, the guys at work would get together and have tournaments........

Handicap...........yes I am!

I was just thinking about asking the same question, and you beat me to it.
I have played since 86, love the sport, the older I get, cause fat ole men can play it, and that fits me. Seriously, I always like competition, either with my self or other, and golf is a challenging sport. I'm not good by no means, but its like deer hunting, just being out, and playing is what its all about. My lowest card ever was 92 on a fair course.
I always thought golf was a expensive sport, but its nothing to deer hunting.
Hit my longest drive just yesterday, 291 yards.

its not more expensive than deer hunting, but i can only have so many expensive hobbies before i start running out of green (no pun intended)lol.

I bought a lot in Bella Vista just to where I could play cheaper. I only played twice last year and neither time was there. I love the game though.

I don't get to play very often anymore. I always spend my spare time fishing. Did play a few rounds last year.

Quite golfing so I could work with my Lab more. We haven't had enough ducks to take the time off to hunt though. Probably gonna teach my dog to playgolf so I can have a partner I really like....

I have never tried it. I have done putt putt back in my younger days (years ago). I spend more than enough money and time fishing and hunting. So with that it would be real hard to start something else.

Haven't played in a couple of years but, still like the game. Daly didn't win today but he tried to make a comeback.

My handicap? My lack of ability!

I play as much as possible when I'm not hunting. It is a great sport, but very challenging. I been playing for 10 years. By the end of the summer I get my handicap down to about 10-12. Then Oct. 1 rolls around and I don't touch a club for 5 months. It seems that I have to start over every May after turkey season. By late September I'm playing fairly well before bow season starts. I mainly play at Greystone in Cabot and Foxwood in Jacksonville. I mix in occasional rounds at various other locations all over the state (Mountain Ranch, Stonelinks, Pine Valley, Hot Springs Village, Paradise Valley, ect.) Chamberlyn in Danville is probalby one of the best kept secrets in the state. Anyone that hasn't been there, it's worth the drive from anywhere in the state.

Looks like Big John Daly is off to another good start this week. I sure would like to see him win this week and capture the extra 1/2 million for winning the West Coast Swing.

I can honestly say that golf is one sport that I get my moneys worth out of a round. The price per swing for me is real low.
Battman, I have played pine valley a few times. Last time was during July 4th holiday, borrowed a friends dads clubs. Got to the tee box (believe #3) with the pond in front. Due to sweaty hands I flung the driver into the middle of the pond. Spent the next 30 minutes wading around trying to find it. My family will never let me live that down.
Thumper, when you going to come see me and we will play a few rounds.

Rjet, the wife and I are planning a weekend trip in mid to late March. Are your weekends usually free?

I just had to take a break from the bowhunting season issue. I've played golf off and on since 1966, though I prefer archery competition. Yet, bowhunting is number 1 by a wide margin. My handicap (9.4 last October), like many of you, generally improves throughout the summer, but the clubs go into the shop when it's time to get the bowhunting gear out. Most golfing is done in a business related manner. Not very many of my customers shoot bows, except for bowhunting season.
Some of my other hobbies: Skeet, Sporting Clays, Trap, rifle shooting, pistol shooting - you can tell I like the shooting sports, which includes archery!. To continue: bowfishing, crappie fishing, smallmouth bass fishing on mountain streams, fly fishing for trout and all other species that will take a fly, fishing in general. In the hunting category, the only kind I have not done in Arkansas is elk hunting - hope that changes some day. I also like outdoor photography, outdoor writing, working with our golden retrievers . . . oops, got to go, this stuff is interfering with my work, which normally interferes with my recreation - heck of a predicament.
