My son killed his first tree rat this morning!
He sure was smiling.
We slept in and didn't get out until daylight. I let him shoot the old x-bow a few times then to the woods we went. Ten minutes later he was looking down the sights at a big fat doe. She didn't offer a shot so about an hour later, back to the truck for the .410. One hour after that we are on the way out with 3 greys. Momma can't wait 'till supper.

I can still remember the thrill of my first successful squirrel hunt. Model 94 savage/stevens 410ga was bad ju-ju on those limb rats. I know the squirrels were just the half of it. Those memories will never be forgotten. God Bless.

Puddle,
congrats to your son on that first squirrel. I think you teach a kid to squirrel hunt first and they will be hooked on all hunting for life. graemlins/thumb.gif

He got to chew on some old gray tonite. I'd say he is hooked. Now it is to get him to clean them. graemlins/smack.gif

Puddle, Tell your son congratulations. Never forget my first even though it was... 35 years ago. Took me a minute, had to take my shoes off to count. Never forget the man that took me either.
