BIIGGGG RABBIT

I saw a Swamp Rabbit this evening that looked like he'd dress out at about 6 lbs..Man he was a biggun,,Any of you rabbit hunters still hunt these rabbits??? They were plentiful some years when I was a kid,,killed alot of them in the 50s, But haven,t seen many in years...xring

I killed the biggest one I have ever killed last year the last day I bowhunted. I had to cut the back legs in three steaks just to fry'em up. Man he was good.

Have seen a bumper crop of rabbits this year. Those things are all over the place.

I hunt occasionally, my brother is a huge rabbit hunter and beagle trialer...he has about 15 right now at his kennel. Lots of swamp rabbits at fort chaffee.

I usually kill atleast one big swamper every year back at Sunken lands.

I used to hunt Swamp Rabbit's. Was my favorite rabbit hunting. The only problem was that if you didn't shoot'm once the dogs jumped them you better get ready for a long chase. They almost never seem to turn. Pay's to have dogs that trained not to push too far out ahead of the hunters. Bunch of them in the Cache river bottoms near Fender, Village creek near Tuckerman, and the Black river bottoms anywhere between Portia and Alicia. Pack'n four of five of those things around will tucker'ya out. Better arm yourself with some magnum loads with #4 or #6 shot. Those swampers had a lighter color meat that was much tastier than the cottontail.
