Has anyone ever been on a guided Pheasant hunt in Kansas or another state that is an easy drive from Central Arkansas? Some buddies and I are looking to make a trip...we have also considered Texas for quail. Any info would be welcome. Thanks.

I hunted at gunsmoke lodge near Dodge City, Kansas. Some of the birds are planted and some of them are wild. I had an awsome time! At this place you can kill as many as you can afford to. I believe it was like six a day per person or you could pay more and kill more. Great food and great lodging. I don't have the number right off hand, but I believe you can find it somewhere on the net.

I've hunted Show-Me Birds hunting resort in Baxter Springs, KS, four times over the past five years. Great place. Nice lodge, great guides, excellent dogs, a lot of shooting. The place is less than 2 hours from Fayetteville.
They are all planted birds, but much of the time, you can't tell. They work hard to raise birds in big pens so they are strong and fly good.
Another great thing about Show-Me Birds is, since they plant all pheasants (or chukars if that's what you want), they can set their own limits. Kansas limit is what? Two birds, maybe three birds per day in some areas. I know two years ago you could buy a 6 bird per person hunt for $160. It's a half day hunt, lunch, guide, dogs included (plus a $15 controled shooting area license). They have four big farms they hunt and plant wheat, millet, etc. on all the farms. So the places look like real pheasant country.
I highly recommend the place. You end up with more shooting, less driving, and probably fewer expenses than going all the way to Liberal or Dodge. I've hunted Liberal before, I'd go back to Show-Me Birds before I'd go back to west Kansas.
