Rabbit Hunters?

I have a pair of beagles I take when I can. I do not hunt them as much as they should be because I use most of what hunting time I have deer hunting. I hunt the river bottoms around Paris.

I live in Van Buren and do just about all of my hunting at Fort Chaffee.

I kept a pair of beagles for years, and hunted with a gentleman named Dulin Fulks over in Gosnell Ar. Hunt all morning, bring the dogs home, clean your kill and pen the dogs, eat a big breakfast of scrambled eggs and sasuage. Pour a large portion of bourbon in the second cup of coffee "beg your pardon Dulin" (he don't drink) and lean back in your recliner and relive the hunt....It don't get any better than that.

My beagle is just over a year old now and I can't wait to get him in the woods. I have recently taken to hunting rabbits with my bow...what a blast! But with Luke (beagle) I will have to dust off the ol 870

i grew up rabbit hunting and at one time we had a pack of beagles in our back yard here in LR :D . Made for some interesting baying late at night. Haven't been in a couple of years. My wife recently got a short legged beagle as a pet but it came from some dandy stock from around quitman. She has got one heck of a nose on her and has got me interested in chasin' some swampers again. tongue.gif

Well there used to be alot of rabbits around these parts of Mississippi County. Any more you have a better chance of jumping a deer off these ditches than rabbits. Coyotes have pretty much wiped out the rabbit population. We have several coyotes in the area. I have been talking to several farmers cutting beans if they are seeing rabbits and they haven't seen many. Some said they have seen more deer than rabbits.

I hunt Ft.Chaffe for rabbits, mostly area 3. I have 1 beagle and he needs a buddy, to keep him on track.

I also hunt Chaffee for Bobcats and coyote's.
