The new slot is 16 to 18 inchs. The reason for this i'm told is that there is to many slot fish in there. The same slot has been placed on White Oak. Should make some good fish fry at turkey camp this Spring.

How does Columbia compare to lake Monticello for big bass? I am thinking about going this weekend.

If you are looking for a Big Mama i would head to Monticello. But if you want to catch a nice mess of fish Columbia is where i would go. Not saying that you won't catch ole-big in Columbia it's just Monticello has been the lake the last couple of years for a wall-hanger. :thumb:

I have caught 5 fish over 8 pounds out of Monticello and was in the boat for one over 11. Its a fun lake. But I have never been to Columbia.'

Sorry to hijack the thread:smack:

8 fish limit per person. 5 being under 16" and 3 over 18" inches. They increased the creel.

Eight can be less than 16...limit may include three over 18..

Columbia (Columbia County) Largemouth bass daily limit is eight of which only three may be longer than 18 inches. Largemouth bass from 16 inches to 18 inches long must be released immediately to the water.

Will be there friday morning at daybreak. Me and the boys will be snatching some lips. Personally i think it is the best thing they could have done for that lake. Way to many slot fish with very few big fish to show for the efforts of the old slot. :thumb:
