Has anyone been fishing for walleye on greers yet? I used to live on the narrows at Greers Ferry and fished mostly in the upper middle fork. I moved to northwest AR and I'm thinking about coming down and fishing the Sandiff area this year if the fish start hitting.

I grew up in greers ferry not far from the shiloh boat dock. I haven't heard of anybody catching any yet. It's usually just a little later. I never did catch many fishing for them, mostly I caught them early in the white bass run or during the summer bass fishing with crankbaits outside the brush.

I have to go down to see dad this week I'll see if he's heard anything.

The walleye fishing isn't as good as it once was.

Why are you wanting to go all the way down there, the Kings river is a very good walleye river. They were just starting to bite before we got this cold snap.

I basically grew up on Greers. My family has had a place there since i was 4 years old and I hardly ever walleye fish. However, I started last year and I am excited about it for this year. I usually can catch a few in Lynn Creek and up in Johnsons Hole.

Where do you guys fish for them and how?

Caught lots of walleye out of Greers, but not this time of year. In late March and early April I hit the coves on the north side of the main lake when the wind is blowing into them, the harder the better. Throw a grub, crankbait or jerkbait, right in front of the bushes, fish pretty fast and cover lots of water, if they are in there, they're feeding and will bite. The harder the winds blowing into the coves the better. My best catches have been in the coves between the south end of the Narrows and Bud Creek, but any coves off the main lake with wind blowing into them could work, the coves on the north banks are best that time of year because they will be the warmer than the coves on the south banks.

I used to be good friends with the Baileys' that own Shiloah marina and we fished middle fork a lot at night and caught fair numbers of smaller fish. I love to fish Kings river and used to catch some real hogs, but the G&F have all but ruined the run in the river south of the state line. Electrofishing night after night by AR and MO has taken it's toll. I'll still fish the river because you never know when that 14 pounder is going to be there, but I don't expect to catch more than 5 or 6 fish for the year. I usually like to release the big sows and I don't catch many eaters and I do like to eat walleye.:thumb: Greers Ferry had a lot more eating size fish and it would be kinda like old times to go back and fish. Bachstraps We would usually fish the first running water you came to going up the river arms and major creeks. Fish Rattlin Rogues (med. diver, suspending ) or Huskey Jerks.

I heard yesterday that a few are being caught. If we get some warm weather this week it could really turn on, especially if we a get a warm rain with it.

My brother and I are planning to try it Sunday. Where on Greers Ferry would be the best bet?

Has anyone heard of the walleye fishing on the Spring River south of Hardy? I know of a few guys who fish it every year this time and they always catch some whoppers...

I've heard a few a being caught around Sandiff in middle fork and past the Prim bridge in Devils fork. I need to get up there this weekend and give them a try.
