My buddies are wanting to go the Arkansas river and try the catfish below the Dardanelle Dam. Anything going on in the Arkansas River. The catfishing has been really slow there for over a year now. Any experts that have some current information? :thumb:

I was down there on the 12th and 13th they weren't running any water on the 12th and very little on the 13th. We caught 1 catfish but that was under a persimmon tree above the dam. The bass fishing was great on lake dardanelle. If they have been running some water lately the catfish should be biting.

Call 479-329-2282 and see what the water is like.

Here are some cats caught on Conways last drawdown before this one. You might try there , heard it was lowered 6'. You will have to launch a small boat by hand , no usable ramps.
Only place I heard of is Blue Mountain, Big Sam said they were hitting there. He fishes the Arkansas a lot,but has not mentioned it lately. He posts alot on The Brotherhood of Catfishermen Forums.:thumb:

Fish,

Those are some great cats you all caught. I have talked it over with my friends and we decided to let it go this week, because of so many conflicts with family and business, etc. Sure appreciate the information.....SLY.:thumb:

You can still lauch off the Adams Lake ramp on Lake Conway. There are also a few other spots you can lauch by hand. It is not as low as it has been in past drawdowns.

Rowdy, I've been trying to find that Adams launch. Where exactly is it?

You can get there a couple ways. Take the Mayflower exit off of I-40 and head back east. Go a 3 or 4 miles (?) anf turn left on Clinton Rd. Go a couple miles and you will see a metal building on the left that says Saltillo Volunteer Fire Department. Turn left there onto Adams Lake Rd.Follow that road to the ramp.
You can also take the Industrial Blvd/Dr/Ave/Whichever exit off of I-40 in Conway. Go back east. This will be Hwy 286. Follow tha road until you see the fire station building and turn right.
I'm probably off on my distances, but the directions are on.

As for the catfishing being slow below Dardanelle I do not know. There are two old men from Paris they use remote control boats and run there lines to the flood gates. They do not say how many fish they caught they just say pounds if they go and catch less than a hundred pounds a trip they had a bad day. I usually fish and snag a bunch below Ozark dam doing some good there right noe from the people I have talked too.

PeeWee, I have watched those guys with the remote contol boats. They drag some real hogs out of the area they reach with the RC boats. When I lived at Paris, I used to catch boat loads of fish in Shoal Bay, Six Mile Creek and Horsehead Creek.

I catch the majrity of my fish out of Paris City lake and Cove lake when I am fishing for anything besides catfish and then I go to Ozark and sneg them or bait fish them off of the sanbars in the bottoms. I used to run jugs on Cove and Paris city lake and took some good cats but got tired of my jugs being cut or stolen.
