I just went out to Lake Barnett to try a little fishing this morning. The lake is way to low to launch a boat. That is to bad because the shad have no place to hide and the bass are piging out on them right now. :frown:

The AGFC needs to take a lesson from the Corps Of Engineers on ramp-building. They don't build them steep enough to launch a very big boat. By very big I meam much over a flatbottom. They also don't build them long enough to use when the lakes are down. With the drought condidtions we have had for the last several years, I've seen it more times then I care to remember. Now granted, there are exceptions, but most of the smaller lakes seem to be having this problem right now.

Yeah and if you could launch on Barnett and head toward the dam, I belive you could tear them up. (all species)

I got one I think I could get in there. I should be up that way in a couple days, think I may take a look-see.

rowdyrabbit I have been told that catfishing is good just to the right of Reeds landing around the first bend next to the rock ledge. If you go to where the lake opens up by the dam and go straight across from the schute, there is some some standing timber that is good bass and crappie cover. All along the schute leeding to the open water can be good for bass and crappie.
Hope you have good luck.

Are you talking about the treetops that just stick up out of the deep water? 60 feet or so, I think. I've never fished for anything but bass on Barnett. Probably half of that was at night. I've never done very good on there. I know there are supposed to be some big fish, just never found my way into them.
