This week there will be meetings on the development of a fisheries management plan for Lake Ouachita. Tomorrow night the meeting will be at the Mount Ida High School cafeteria at 6:30 pm.
Tuesday night the meeting will be held at the Fountain Lake High School cafeteria at 6:30 pm.
I would like the limit on bluegill lowered to maybe 25. The last few years the big bluegill have really taken a beating. This lake is not fertile like lowland lakes and I am afraid if something isn't done then the resource could be damaged for years. Maybe can get some input from a biologist.

I have some of the same concerns about the bream on Ouachita as you. We have bream fished over there, out of Crystal, for years and have always been able to batch a couple dozen big ole bream a day, until this year. Out of around 12-15 days of fishing from mid-may till yesterday, this year has been terrible. If you get any answers about what has happened, please post them.

Went to the meeting tonight in Mount Ida and it looked like around 100 folks showed up. The moderator had us form groups of 6-10 people and list our concerns and possible solutions on large sheets of paper. The moderator then had one person at each table read that groups #1 concern. At the end of the meeting all sheets were posted on the wall for all to see. There were some good ideas and some dumb ones (in my opinion). Most of the talk centered on largemouth and striped bass.
