EDITION $100MONEY MOUSE REPORThttp://arkgeocaching.org/themes/Chronicles/forums/images/lang_english/icon_quote.gif (http://arkgeocaching.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=posting&mode=quote&p=6706&sid=48fe6b7ba469b296657a9a610f3be211) The $100 Money Mouse was hiding at the “Lum and Abner, Jot’em Down Store and Museum” in Pine Ridge on Hwy 88, about half way between Oden and Mena. The owner of the store & museum and keeper of the flame for the last 30 years, Lon and Kathryn Stucker, even opened up an hour earlier just for the mouse chasers. I want to thank the Stucker family (now new cachers “squireskimp”) for being so gracious with their early Saturday morning time. What a nice couple, and they know tons of history about the Lum and Abner radio shows plus their movies. Reruns of the Lum and Abner show can still be heard on the Benton radio station. I do hope you enjoyed your journey to this beautiful part of Arkansas today and the journey back to a much simpler time. The total prize money handed out to the hunters, along with cache pages for the area caches, was $172 and here is the mouse report.
PS. The story about who was the poster and what happened is a long one (you already knew that right?), so I will place it at the bottom of the page. Just incase any of you really care about the howcomes and wherefors of the posting troubles plus a few other mouse stories. To paraphrase a very popular quote, The best laid plans of both mans and meeses……
The 8th Edition of the $100Mouse Hunt Game Report:
The first to arrive with a “Hi-yo-silver” in a cloud of dust (sort of speaking) was “mountainborn and butcherknife” from Vandervoot, with an impressive time, considering the very late posting, of 8:15. They received a crisp $100 bill and printed pages of caches in the area. After meeting mountainborn I’m never again going to call “Gaddiel” a geek. [http://arkgeocaching.org/modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif] …although “Phantom491” is still a geek. [http://arkgeocaching.org/modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif]
Twenty three minutes later, at 8:38, the second team to arrive received their mouse card plus cache pages, so the “cachemates” from Glenwood took home the $50 bill. If you have never gotten the opportunity to talk caching with the cachemates you are missing a treat. Always glad to see them on the hunt.
The third chaser clocked in at 9:10 (now read that again very slowly, there will be a test on it later), so receiving the third place $20 bill was “Rhone” from Benton. He also received printed copies of the local caches. You could talk all day about Rhone’s cache finding and cache hiding skills but he is one darn good mouse hunter too.
The Fourth place prize of a crisp $2 bill was handed to “ar_kayaker” from Jacksonville along with his stamped mouse card with a time of 9:10+1. Remember Rhone’s time? I told you there was going to be a test later. Remember where they both live? Yes I know I didn’t warn you about that test, it was a pop quiz.
So what does that +1 mean? That +1 could stand for 1 second between cachers…one foot between bumpers…or maybe one car length (if anyone else is reading this). I just posted the time, I will let them make the call. Now folks that was another photo finish.
My first time to meet ar_kayaker and I realize now that “teckno geeeekee”, although my spellchecker says I’m wrong, doesn’t have nearly enough eeees in it anymore. [http://arkgeocaching.org/modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif]Plus I think the “Infamous Travel Bug Prison” would be a snap for this young man.
No others found the mouse in the 3 hrs starting from the delayed posting time.
