I skiped out on the hiking trip to Petit Jean today, made the trip up to Piney for the first time in 2 years. It was a pretty good day to be on the creek. The wind was a pain, but then it always is up there.Lots of Turkey hunters out today, dozens of 4 wheelers and quite a few campers along with the usual Canoers,Rafters and Kayakers.Took a few pics.

Traffic jam at the put in on Heltons's farm.

bird dog,
I enjoyed the pictures of your outing on the Piney.
How do you fish those rapids? Pretty quick, I bet.
I never could float the Buffalo without a fishing rod in the canoe.
Looks like some serious business that requires a lot of training and skill.
Thanks again!

I have fished a few times on the Buffalo and Piney but it seems like I loose to many plugs and jigs and brake to many rods. Do most of my fishing on Fourche and South Fourche at lower levels and then I stop at the showls and get out of the canoe and wade to cast. I am not a good fisherman in clear water either. What we call "fishing" on Piney, consist of using a throw rope, tossed to a boater that has flipped over.

Not a whole lot of training required, mostly just a passion for being on a moving stream and some tolerance for cold. Good equipment helps, like a wetsuite, throw ropes, good life vest and a good camera, canoe with floatation bags or a raft.

There is a lot of flat water in between the rapids that just dont make as good pictures.
