I shipped 7 bows today donated to the troops overseas...I was proud to have the 7 to ship but with as strong a membership as the ABA, and the number of hunters in Arkansas....I was disappointed that in 3 months I have only received 7 bows. The shipping was paid for by 3 arkansas hunters stepping up and saying let me help ship those bows. Please hunters/shooters...lets support our troops and provide some quality R&R for them. If you have any question as to how much it means to them...pm me and I will send you emails that I have received from them. Thank you. KD

I was talking to my husband about taking a bow on deployment and he told me he wouldn't even be alowed to have it. A guy got arrested for having a carbon arrowshaft in his barracks room. Not a tip or anything. They considered it a dangerous weapon. Will the guys that got bows shipped to get in trouble?? Will they have to leave them behind??

RD...the bows are being shipped to the main quartermaster who sends them to the camps. Operation TRadAmerica has shipped over 700 bows to date....Easton supplies all the arrows needed....and a few other archery manufacturers supply some other necessary items. The troops will have to leave the bows....they are assigned to the recreation center and the troops can come and check them out and shoot them. The soldiers at these locations build their own ranges out of whatever they can find and the stories that I and others involved have received are very appreciative as it gives them a chance to forget the day's events and relax a little. This is very different from a soldier loading up and taking his own equipment. If you would like more info please pm me and I can direct to some emails. KD

that's cool. guys... sounds like a MWR deal. Here on base we can rent tents and canoes and whatever you need for camping. I guess it's kind of the same...? Unfortunately when my hubby deploys, he is stuck on a tin can in the ocean. Missed many hunting season, including this one. Keep it going guys, that's really cool. I heard of some guys over there making their own bows!!!

RD...what branch is husband in....Naval?? I wish this would extend to the sailors....but the red tape and gauntlet that we went through to put this in place...I don't really know how well the military admin would be to putting bows on ships????Tell you husband thank you from us for giving up so much to serve his country. And thank you roperduckie! For making the sacrifice along with him! KD
